Heat Recovery Extractor Fans

Classic extractor fans remove air from your room which is then replaced by air from outside or elsewhere in the home. Oftentimes this air is cold, and so your room may actually be at higher risk of damp-causing condensation. This is where a heat recovery extractor fan comes in. While it is removing hot air from your room, it is also drawing in cold air. It uses the removed hot air to heat the incoming cold air, so you’re just removing excess moisture or gases without losing precious heat. We stock a wide range of Vent-Axia Heat Recovery Extractor Fans, including models with timers and humidistat functions.

Why Do I Need A Heat Recovery Extractor fan?

Heat recovery fans are a smart and sustainable solution for anyone who is seeking to improve air quality, enhance energy efficiency, and create a more comfortable and eco-friendly indoor environment. They are particularly valuable in regions with extreme weather conditions where heating or cooling demands are significantly high.

Heat recovery extractor fans are generally continuously running with a ‘trickle’ function which can be boosted when needed using the trigger (normally a pull cord like classic extractor fans). Thanks to it’s specially designed heat exchanger included in the unit, incoming fresh air is heated by the outgoing hot air at a 75% efficient rate. This can also be switched off during summer months, and the fans can be run only on the boost (without the trickle function).

Another benefit is that heat recovery fans are extremely efficient. By recovering and reusing heat from the exhaust air, heat recovery fans contribute to energy efficiency. This process helps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature with less reliance on additional heating or cooling systems. In addition to heat recovery, heat extractor fans also transfer moisture. This can be advantageous in balancing indoor humidity levels, especially in climates with varying humidity throughout the year giving you back the control of your living environment.
