Fan Heaters work by running a current through an internal heating coil with resistance, which in turn converts electric energy into heat energy. Air is then drawn in over the heating coil using a fan. The fan is then rapidly warmed and transfers the heat through the vents out into the room. They normally include a thermostat, so you can control the heat produced, as well as the speed of the fan. They also have the timer feature, which automatically turns your heater off after a set period of time. Fan Heaters are also portable, which allows you to deactivate the heating element when it isn’t needed.

A benefit of Fan Heaters is that they are cost-effective. Usually, they contain a ceramic heating coil and Aluminium baffles. The simple design makes the heaters affordable and efficient. The heating coil heats up quickly with minimal electricity required. For every 1000W of heat produced, they will heat up an area of up to 9.3 square metres, provided it is well insulated. Most of the heater models operate at a minimum of 1500W, so you are aware of the power you are using. This means the upfront cost and long-term cost is low.

A second benefit of them is that they are safe to use. The heating coil element of the product doesn’t get as hot as other types of heaters. They have a built-in mechanism that reduced the flow of electricity of the coil after 193 ° C. As a safety precaution, they should not be covered as this can become a fire hazard. It is best practice to place them away from combustibles. There are also models which automatically turn off once they begin to overheat. This ensures more safety for you, and your family. It is also important to not leave it unattended, and routinely clean the product to keep it in its best condition.

Fan Heaters have the third benefit of being portable. You can carry them from one room in your house to another room, with a carry handle. Due to their compact size, they can be used in an RV, a bathroom, on holiday or while camping, if you have a standard electrical outlet. They also have the convenient feature of a remote control, which lets you change the heat settings from anywhere in your room.
